Each objective answers a different question the Himalaya keeps asking — what people know, how they live, and whether the gains are shared.
Develop awareness among the general population, stakeholders, and policymakers about protecting the physical and biological components of the environment — so that care for the mountain becomes common ground, not a specialist's concern.
Create location-specific developmental models that secure health and livelihood without disturbing the environment — built with every stakeholder, fitted to the terrain and the people who call it home.
Establish strategies for equitable living standards — social and economic justice, gender equity, and the sustainable sharing of natural resources — because conservation only lasts when its benefits reach everyone.
Our objectives meet the ground in one of the planet's most biodiverse and delicate regions: the Darjeeling Hills and the wider Kanchenjunga landscape. Here, a single slope can hold species found nowhere else on Earth.
We work to keep the hill ecosystems intact — the forests, watercourses, and soils that hold the mountain together and let its life continue to evolve on its own terms.
From globally threatened plants and animals to insects and avifauna, we focus on the species that depend entirely on this landscape. Protect their habitat, and you protect the whole.
Every objective we set comes back to this: people and the Himalaya, thriving on the same slopes.
